Tee on Tee print.. leading to the word of the day!!!

here I am just showing you some pictures of tee's that I found in current collections of highstreet european fashion. The t-shirt above is from John Galliano's own line. He is also head designer of Christian Dior. The other tee I am showing you is from Martin Margiela, a designer which is becoming more and more famous every year.

The one thing that they both have in common (and I could have shown many more examples), is that they have a t-shirt printed onto a t-shirt. Thats actually quite a funny idea. The only brand where I have seen something similar before is Affa. The japanese guys printed a rock'n'roll leather jacket onto some tee's.

Especially the Martin Margiela tee above, I really like. I am almost more impressed by the detailed print than the design. Eventhough in the case above I clearly think that the type of t-shirt printed onto the white tee above actually underlines the design... the yellow fits the aloha theme. And do you see how the print even goes to the inside of the tee and covers tha tag? Really cool. What mostly impresses me about good highstreet fashion, is how with very simple designs something strong is displayed. The aloha design is no big deal, but the tee overall is.

Thats why I really appreciate brands like Acronym and Visvim. We have true professionals behind these brands. They think about every detail of their clothing and make something seem simple, but in reality the details are very complex and well thought-through. I definitely see a trend in the so-called streetfashion, getting more professional and more mature. Now one could argue that exactly the not-existing maturity makes "streetwear" and "streetculture" so appealing and seem so much more natural. But, we all know that that's only how it seems... there is more corporate culture, money and very calculated strategic thinking in this culture than most people think...in fact I am convinced that the people that are in this culture today are marketing geniuses and that a lot of corporates can learn from them. Marketing Guru number one is definitely him. WORD. That was my word for this week. Actually I kind of drifted away from the topic that I started with. Whatever....
