The Pixelroller!!!

Just came across this thing: the Pixelroller. I looks like a normal paint roller, but it puts pixels that you designed before onto the wall.
PixelRoller is a paint roller that paints pixels, designed as a rapid response printing tool specifically to print digital information such as imagery or text onto a great range of surfaces. The content is applied in continuous strokes by the user. PixelRoller can be seen as a handheld “printer”, based around the ergonomics of a paintroller, that lets you create the images by your own hand.
The outcome is fantastic. Check here for a little video and some explanation.

Marc Ecko`s "Getting Up" due in September !!!!

Designer Marc Ecko is about to release a game for the PS2 called "Getting Up". The game is entirely about graffiti.
This is what MTV news has to say about it:

"But forget soda commercials, TV graphics and designer clothing labels, he says. Instead, Ecko wants players to take the role of Trane, voiced by Talib Kweli, and start making the walls of the city New Radius a bit more colorful. Players begin as a graffiti novice — a "toy" — and study under the tutelage of six real-life virtuosos. The aim is to out-hustle rival crews, build respect and reach the pinnacle: status as an "all-city king."

Sounds interesting. I am definitely looking forward to check it out. If you want to know more about it, check here.

Kaws "glow in the dark" companion !!!

Kaws will be releasing a new toy in July. The hype around this one is already more then ever before and we know that his stuff is always surrounded by quite some hype.
The new "glow in the dark" companion (originally released in 1999) will only be released in Japan through Sense magazine. People have to participate to a contest of Sense magazine to get the chance of getting one of the 500.
You`ll see quite some of these changing owners for a lot of money on ebay in July. Retail price is 200$, my guess is that on ebay it`ll at least be 500$ and up.

Visionaire No. 45 on sale !!!!

Visionaire 45 is now for sale. We reported about it earlier.
This time the toys are again designed by some big names in the industry: Armani, Gucci, Christian Lacroix, Comme des Garcon, Helmut Lang, John Galliano and more.
The toys look fantastic and if you cannot convince yourself yet to spend 175$ on a set of 5, then remember the last issue of Visionaire. There thy presented the first designer toys also for 175$ in the beginning and sold the last issues for 1000$, due to the high demand. Therefore, I can tell you, it`s a very logic investment.

"The Life and Death of Bling Bling" by Matthew Vescovo

I just came across this book. It`s supposed to be one of the funniest reads.
I think this quote from artbook.com, best describes, what this is about-

"Cool to uncool. Inside to mainstream. Black to white. How did "Bling Bling" move from one world to the other, seemingly overnight? Matthew Vescovo, master of the obvious and creator of Instructoart Lesson 1, hilariously connects the dots and takes us full circle from the raw underground rap beginnings of Bling Bling, to its ultimate demise in the hands of unhip suburban Oprah-watching wives. This story of innovation, proliferation, regurgitation, commercialization, and bastardization, is based on Vescovos’s highly popular animated short for MTV of the same name. Appropriately written in verse, it illustrates a common theme in our world today--that of black culture desperately trying to carve out ownership of something exclusively theirs . . . and other groups ruining it all. "

I am definitely getting it, it just has to be funny. If interested, head over to artbook.com for purchase.

Mekanism x John Maeda!!!!

Hey there,

I know it`s been all over the place already, but it`s such a nice collaboration, so that I have to point it out as well.
After its collaboration with the artist Invader ( I reported about his exhibition in NYC earlier), French company MEKANISM skateboards is giving carte blanche to John MAEDA for a limited-edition
board.
John MAEDA is a world leading figure in the digital creation and its education. Prof essor at the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, his goal is to reconcile man with machine by building a bridge between digital programming and aesthetic creation.
Multiplying the mediums of creation, John MAEDA already created digital animations for the Internet, posters for cultural events, illustrations
for magazines, photo digital montages as well as lithographies and interactive installations for exhibitions, advertising campaigns for great
brands.
Mixing with poetry, knowledge and sensitivity, he proves us how digital technology combined with a creative sense can give a new burst of
enthusiasm to the reading of our society.

This board is called “thrrrrrrust”, the concept is two thousand littlearrows arranged in a collage as a kind of representation of “thrust” as
often seen in physics films.

Hope thats enough info, but John Maeda is just an interesting guy. For more info on him, check here.

Creative Recreation is a really cool shoe brand, that I stumbled on. The guys doing it, come from Orange County, California.
Their goal was to come out with aethletic shoe`s with style, in order to be able to combine nice dressing with a comfortable and stylish pair of shoes. Each shoe is handmade and limited to 500 pairs worldwide.
I think they quite accomplished that. Some great models, also in a some special color ways. I hope I`ll find them somewhere in Europe.

Customized Jeans by Earnest Sewn !!!!

Earnest Sewn is the popular brand by the former designer from Paper Denim jeans. They have now opened a custom jean shop on Washington Street in New York’s Meatpacking district. Customers can choose from a long list of options including fit, stiching, wash, and length and then wait for little while in the shop for the jeans to be custom made. It usually takes around an hour. For the waiting there is a cafe in the shop. A pair of customized jeans costs $170-$200 and there is currently a two-week waiting list.

I want a customized Jeans. It the type of pants one wears the most and the prices here are good. Look at the Prada post or other premium denim companies and then this price is even cheap.

The British Luxury Club !!!!!!

Founded by the HRH Prince Michael of Kent, this rather new gentlemens club (opened in 2004), is the latest addition to this sort of establishment.
Launched at Kensington Palace in September 2004 the British Luxury Club is recognised as one of the best membership associations in London. Membership is strictly by invitation only. The British Luxury Club provides the perfect mix of lifestyle and business. Included in the services are invitations to luxury events (whatever that means) and access to the luxury community. They also recently launched an Arts Club, while there is already a Wine Club, Film Club and Travel Club.
Membership in this club is 900 Pounds/year. That does not sound like too much, I guess getting in is the much harder task. Lately it`s getting a bit confusing, because new clubs of this sort just keep on popping out. But I have to admit, that the fact that this one was founded by the Prince of Kent, gives a bit of a bonus.
